Shell and I woke up around 8, and soon after made our way to the kitchen to eat breakfast and give each other Easter presents. Every Easter that passed while we were dating, I always made Shell an Easter basket. I don’t know why I insist on doing something so childish, but I just love going out and finding a bunch of little things to put in her basket. The only thing that has changed over the years is that I am no longer allowed to get her stuffed animals for her basket, since she has so many from me with nowhere to put them. So this Easter, her basket contained:

  • Tom Petty CD
  • Dark Chocolate Bunny
  • Fruit Slices (the candy, not actual fruit)
  • Socks
  • Hand Lotion
  • Sanitizing Hand Lotion
  • Coconut M&Ms
  • M&Ms
  • Starburst Jellybeans
  • Mentos Gum

After dinner last night, we went to the movies to see Sherlock Holmes. When I first saw the trailer for the movie I was a bit nervous, because it didnt seem like classic Sherlock Holmes, and it appeared to have a lot of action and explosions and what not. So while this did hold true for the movie, it was done in a tasteful way so that the movie was not ruined, but pretty darn awesome.

Robert Downey Jr. plays Sherlock Holmes, a private investigator of sorts living in London. Downey Jr. plays him pretty well in my opinion, showing off the eccentrics of Holmes. In this movie, Holmes is attempting to solve a case involving the supposed resurrection of a  cult leader who had been executed for practicing black magic and performing sacrifices on young women. Downey Jr. portrays Holmes as a genius, but still shows his quirks, which are a bit more “out there” in this movie, but it helps the film rather than ruining it. Like classic Holmes, Downey Jr. spends the movie attempting to solve a case using his insanely amazing analytical, reasoning, and deducing skills. Its a treat to sit there and listen to him blurt out how this crime was committed and how this person did that.

New Years Eve Plans

Well, I still cant believe it, but tonight is the one-year anniversary of our engagement. I cant believe its been a whole year since I popped the question. Now that Christmas is over, the next few months are gonna fly by, and before I know it, the wedding will be here. Anywho, due to this, we decided to have a nice, quiet night together.

We made reservations at some Thai restaurant in Albany. The restaurant does not have a liquor license, which means we are bringing our own bottle of wine, which should be fun. Afterwards, we will be hitting up the movies. We’re not sure what we’re gonna see yet, it will depend on what time it is. What we do know is that we will either be seeing Avatar or Sherlock Holmes. I dont care which one, since I want to see both, and the other one we will just go see next week.

After the movie we will head home, get drunk, and hang out the rest of the night. If she gets drunk enough I hope to get some Rock Band in or something. Eventually we will settle down to watch the ball drop, and then its off to bed. Tomorrow morning we are leaving early to get to my parents house for lunch and to exchange Christmas gifts, and to stay overnight. Then Saturday we will do the same thing at Shell’s dads house, and we will head back up to Albany Sunday afternoon. Thats the plan for the weekend!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Years!

Ah yes, its summer time, and the great movies are coming out to shine. Heres what Im looking forward to (in no particular order):

  • Transformers- Revenge of the Fallen
  • Public Enemies
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Inglorious Bastards
  • Funny People
  • D-9
  • Zombieland
  • 2012
  • Nottingham (even though it comes out in November, Im excited for Robin-based films)

Theres some others coming out later on that look interesting, like Sherlock Holmes and the remake of Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey as Scrooge, but thats not what this is about. There were more, but the bigger-hits like Wolverine and Star Trek already came and went. Plus, there are probably a few coming out that I havent heard of it.

I know I’ll be seeing Transformers for sure at some point next week. Im pretty excited for it. I really enjoyed the first one.
