With the start of the new year, I will once again take a brief look at my ten most popular blogs of the past year (thanks to the cool tools available through Google Analytics. I’m really curious to see which old blogs are still getting activity, and which new ones were strong enough to make their way into the top ten. Before I get into that, I just want to spout out some statistical info:

  • My site had 69,771 unique visitors over the past year
  • 9,536 of these visitors liked my blog so much that they became repeat visitors
  • 42,852 of these viewers found my blog off of a typical Google search, while 16,831 came across my site via StumbleUpon
  • 42,969 visitors were from the United States, 6,282 were from Canada and 5,536 were rocking from the UK
  • The average visitor spent 31 seconds looking at a particular post before leaving the site
  •  31,240 visitors used Firefox, 20,858 used Chrome, 11,540 used Internet Explorer and 8,665 used Safari (I wonder if next year will be the year that Safari beats IE)
  • Now on to the blogs!!!

In case you haven’t gotten it yet, I’m quite the believer when it comes to the unexplainable. For example, I believe that there is a creature roaming the North American forests that is referred to as “Bigfoot”, even though I have never had any first-hand encounters of any kind. I do believe in ghosts/spirits after my own personal encounter in the family vacation home in upstate NY. I also believe in aliens, as in life on other planets. I won’t go so far as to say there are definitely military cover-ups, or that people are abducted, but I do think it is naive for humans to believe that they are the sole lifeforce in what has become an increasingly unfathomable expanse of existence. Plus the fact that I have seen unexplainable things also bolsters my personal views on aliens and UFOs.

My first sighting happened many years ago. I know that it was at my parent’s current house, and that I was in middle school, so that means it must have been during 8th grade in 1995. My dad and I happened to be standing by the living room window looking out, possibly at a deer or some other animal…I don’t remember why we were both looking. But I do remember all of a sudden these two white lights appeared in the sky and began moving sporadically around. It definitely wasn’t a known aircraft due to the insane maneuverability, and the house was far away from bigger towns/cities, so it was definitely not something attributed to that. To this day I still believe I saw a UFO that day, and I know my Dad believed the same thing then. If he still does, or even remembers the incident, is unknown, but I definitely think I’ll be giving him a call tomorrow to ask. Read More »

I went up to Oneonta today to meet up with my Dad. Deer season starts tomorrow, and he was up there today getting ready and making some basic repairs to the house up there, so I met him there to give him a hand. After a few hours of work and lunch, he wanted to take the ATV up the road and drive over to his tree stand to make sure it was ready for tomorrow. I had an accident involving an ATV years ago, and since then I have never driven one again, so I was not about to go up with him. Instead I decided to stay behind at the house and wander around outside.

So I walked down to one of the abandoned farmhouses on the property and checked it out, but didn’t stay long. My hobophobia had kicked in and I was afraid that I would find a vagrant living in the house over there. So I walked back to the main house to wait for my Dad to return. As I walked alongside the back of the main house, but still a ways up in the woods on a hill above the house, I happened to look down at the house. I suddenly stopped short, because I had noticed something weird. I took a closer look, and sure enough I saw something in the back room window:

Shell was sleeping on the couch, and I was sitting in the chair playing games.

    “Woh.”

    “What? Are you alright?”

“I thought you were right here.”

“No, Im over here on the chair. Is that ok?”

    “Yeah…you’re a ghost.”

    “You think Im a ghost?”

“Yeah, or something like a ghost. Mmmmmm…” (falls back asleep)
