Heading down to the rents for Father’s Day. No PS3 or Wii for me, but I’ll have my trusty DS!!!
Happy Daddy’s Day to all the daddys out there!

Its true, its true. I have thrown off the oppressive shackles of the corporate chain restaurant. No longer will I run back and forth for a $1 per person tip. No more will I burn my hands, cut my hands, bang my hands, or in any other way cause bodily harm to my hands. Farewell to the nasty black button-down shirt stained with the sauce of marinara and bbq, goodbye to the black khaki pants stained with bleach, and so long to the black slip-resistant shoes that were covered in God-only knows…
In case you’re missing the point, I have left Applebees.
Why did I quit my job? Well for starters, the money was no longer worth it. I was available four days a week (due to school classes), but was only scheduled two. One of those days tended to be Saturday mornings, in which I would bring home $14 a day since it was slow and they would cut the serving staff down after an hour of being there. So I was missing out on sweet weekend plans because I had to drive to work to make $14. Lame.
Also, I just plain didnt like the job. Ive been working the restaurant industry on and off for the past 11 years (between Ponderosa, Fridays, Ponderosa, and Applebees). Its tough, its dirty, its fast-paced…all things I had grown tired of. Enough was enough, and it was time for a change.
So I came into some alternative mode of cash, which comes out to more than I would have made working for Applebees for six months, so I decided I no longer had to work, so I quit. I put in my two weeks notice, but I guess management wasnt happy about that, because they turned it into a one-week notice and never scheduled me again. But Im not complaining!!!
So now that I have no job, theres a ton of things I plan on doing this summer on the time, such as:
Since Im not working, I can actually see my family again, and plan weekend activities. Im sure I’ll be doing other fun stuff as time goes on. I also have some not-so-fun stuff to do this summer, such as purchase books for the Fall semester (I need to purchase ten books that are out of print) and take my two certification tests so that I can be certified by graduation in December. All in all, I think it will be a great summer now.
