I was very happy with Dead Space, so I’m definitely psyched for the sequel. It’s definitely a great survival horror game, and did give me a few creeps as far as the gameplay, sounds, creatures, and environment are concerned. I downloaded the demo to Dead Space 2 on the 360 and gave it a whirl this morning, and it’s just as eerie as its predecessor.
The demo begins with some cutscenes, bringing the player up to speed on the story. Eventually you are dropped into the game and on your way. You start the demo with four weapons, all returning from the previous game, including the all-purpose plasma cutter and the awesome line gun (I think that’s what it’s called…the one that fires the wire like all the way down the room, cutting through multiple enemies.) The extra abilities also return, as you must use Statis to slow down time and then grab and interact with objects to get through puzzles. The store also makes a return, allowing you to purchase upgrades and ammo and sell off the stuff you don’t want.

I just wrapped up Dead Space. It was a great game, and I really enjoyed it. The ending cinematic really creeped me out as well. One of my only complaints was that it was too short…I would have loved to be playing it longer. I might actually go through a second playthrough.

I could have sworn I did a review of Dead Space, but I could not find it in my archives. What I do remember about it was that it was horrible. I was not a fan of the slow gameplay or the controls. However, many people online have said how awesome it was, and one friend in particular mentioned that the final game was better than the demo. Now, I needed to have a game in from Gamefly to last me until AVP comes out, and I decided to try Dead Space. So far, I have not been disappointed.
The game is a classic space-survival story. A crew is sent to work some routine maintenance on a large spaceship, and arrive to find that the crew of the ship are missing. It becomes a game of survival as you and your small crew must survive a creature manifestation aboard the large ship.

February is fast approaching, and with it comes about a bajillion (ok, maybe four-five) games that I really want to play. BioShock 2 is already out of that equation, since I pre-ordered it from Amazon for some sweet deals. I paid $52 for it, plus get $10 off a future purchase. That came out to be cheaper than if I had kept it from Gamefly.
So the question is, which of the remaining February releases will I hold out for on Gamefly? I narrowed it down to two choices: Aliens Vs Predator and Dynasty Warriors: Strike Force. I will be getting Dead Space in in a few days, and that will tide me over until February 16, when both AVP and Dynasty Warriors releases. Of course they both had to have the same release week, right? So it comes down to which one I should snag.
