Steve and I bought our tickets and reserved a hotel room for PAX East this March, which is taking place in Boston. For three days we will be enjoying the convention of gaming goodness. Its being held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston from March 26-28. We will be there the entire time. Our hotel is only three blocks from the Convention Center, so its not too shabby. Im looking forward to going to my first video game convention!

How I Spent My Saturday

Shell went to a friends house today, so I was on my own for the afternoon and night. I kept quite busy during this time. Heres what I did (in no particular order):
- Watched Simpsons Season 11
- Watched Boondock Saints off the PS3(never saw it before…was a really great film)
- Worked on my portfolio
- Played WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010
- Played Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
- Did three loads of laundry (mine, Shell’s, and the linens)
- Took out all the garbage and recyclables
- Read some of The Life of Johnny Reb
- Talked to my mom and sister on the phone
So yeah, I got quite a bit done. I like to do some little chores around the house when Im home alone so that I dont get accused of playing games the entire time, so I break up my relaxing time with more productive things. Today was a good day to just unwind and relax. I enjoyed my day off.
PS3 Quick Review: Smackdown vs Raw 2010

I know I always say this, but I feel like I have the need to restate it constantly. I am not a wrestling fan. I havent watched wrestling since 2001 or so. However, I LOVE the WWE series of games. It is such a unique, fun, and interactive fighting game that I find myself constantly getting the most recent version each year. And this year was no exception. I got it in from Gamefly yesterday, and after spending a little under two hours with it, I was sold. I traded in some games to Gamefly and in return kept SvR2010.
The first thing you notice is the training mode. The main menu screen is actually a training mode, where you can do all kinds of moves to your opponent as the game prompts you to do particular ones. This is a great way to quickly get into the action if its your first time, and see what the game has to offer.
Fairytale Fights is Out…WWE SvR2010 is In

So Gamefly has been successful in perplexing me once again. I had an open queue, and I decided to wait and snag Fairytale Fight, which had a release date of 10/27 on Gamefly. So I waited, and the day came and went and I got no message telling me it shipped. So I looked on the site, and the release date had changed to 10/29. So I said “ok, fine I’ll wait til then.” Then on Thursday the date changed to 10/30, then yesterday the release date changed again to 10/31. Then this morning I went on there, and the current release date is 11/3.
As I was constantly waiting for this game to ship, I received an email informing me that WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010 (which had an availability of very low) shipped. Im pretty happy…Ive been dying to get my hands on the new SvR game and see how it is. So I’ll be getting that in next. Im hoping it gets here by Monday so that I can spend all Tuesday playing since I’ll be home from school thanks to Election Day. We shall see.
Morale of the story…Gamefly is a very confusing and frustrating system, yet I love it!!!
Sending Borderlands Back to Gamefly

I really enjoyed Borderlands, and was sad to send it back. But in the end, I made the right decision.
For the few hours I put into it, I knew it was a game I would love to own eventually. Having just purchased Uncharted 2 I was in no position to purchase a new game, so I decided to return it to Gamefly and get something else. Plus, Uncharted 2 and MUA2 are just begging for attention.
I did this so that I would be able to really enjoy the game when I did finally obtain it. If I played through a lot of it now, I would not be as excited to get back into it in the future. So my character is only level 13, and has not really gotten too far in the game yet. I look forward to snagging the game and playing a lot more in the future.
Im hoping to get either Beatles Rock Band or Batman: Arkham Asylum. Both games are listed as medium availability right now on Gamefly. I have been dying to snag Batman for a long time, especially after hearing so many good things about it. Also, I think Shell and I would have a good time playing through Beatles Rock Band for a bit. So yeah, Im hoping for either game. I also have the new WWE game SvR2010 on my list, but I don’t expect to be snagging that anytime soon since its still a new release. We shall see whats next.
